Mandolin Trainer Jam G jam

G jam

Eight bars of G, C and D going around. The one to start on.

These eight bars are what a circle plays while somebody works out what to call next. Nobody is counted in and nothing is graded: the chords go around so the rhythm stays up while the talking happens. It is also the quickest way to get your chop settled in a key before a tune starts, because there is nothing to remember. Moving between G, C and D with a band behind you is the whole of the I, IV, V lesson.

The chords, and a band to play them with

Bar by bar, the way it gets called. Four bars to a line, and a bar with two chords in it changes halfway through.
